Default 2015 starter

Hi all. Strange times right now in the UK so I'm going to spend the time getting my electric start working on my 2015 ec250. Starters never worked since I've owned the bike. Pretty sure someone's tried to turn it into a crosser over the years as the electrics are shocking. Anyway. I've got my starter relay coming in off the button now and sending power down to the motor but the motors not turning. So I decided to directly put 12v to a car battery from some jump leads the leads and motor got hot quickly but the motor spinned up the first time. Then didn't spin the second time until I rotated it by hand. Pretty sure the motors knackered. Didnt have my clamp meter on me so unsure of current drawn. But don't think it should be getting hot like that.

Anyway. I've heard of these KTM motors fitting directly on. Has anyone got expierience with this? People saying the polarity of the motor of the KTM is opposite to the gasgas motor. Is this overcome just by changing the polarity at the brushes?

Thanks. Nick
