I was running Michelin S12 front and rear. Good tire, but the new generation of "gummy" tires are simply amazing.

Rear: Kenda K787 Equilibrium 4.50 x 18 6 ply ($80.61) @ 5-7 psi
Front: Goldentyre Fatty 90/100-21 ($99.95) @ 5-7 psi
I run heavy duty tubes. Terrain is tight single track, steep ups and downs, logging roads, etc.

I have ridden about 100 miles so far on these tires. They look like I just put them on still. They are wearing very well. The traction is a huge leap forward from the Michelin S12

Both tires have very stiff sidewalls and very flexible center treads which allows the tire conform to the terrain. They are amazing in the roots, rocks, mud you name it. It didn't matter if it was really wet or hardpacked dry. Could do 60 on a logging road no wondering around with the low pressures. Never even came close to hitting the rim on rocks.

Just unbelievable difference in tires. If you have not tried the new gummy tires, you owe to yourself to do so.
