Unfortunatly I went through something similar. Mine was worse but that is another story. From first hand experience I would keep that ankle elevated as much as you can in these early stages with a lot of ice on and off. This helped me tremendously so that when it was time to begin walking again ( in my case 8 months later ) the ankle was healed better. The damage within the ankle will heal better when the swelling is gone. another tip is as early as your md lets you try to slowly begin to gently stretching and keep your mobility otherwise you will be super stiff. If you end up doing any physical therapy it will be easier for you. Just some tips from someone who has been there fwiw . Hope you heal up and get back out there soon.
