Yeah was coming to the conclusion that is the only way. Even then it will be a PITA probing the connector on the harness unless I loosen the whole thing so I can move it to a sensible angle.

It's really annoying because I'm so busy at the moment and wont get to it for weeks. I thought it was quick job replacing the reg/rec. I only disturbed the ECU because I thought the reg/rec was the ecu and looked in the wrong place! Now it's going to take quite a while instead of the hour before work In was hoping for. Oh well it would've happened someday and better at home than middle of nowhere.
