I agree with you that I don't think anybody here wants more bling, there is nothing in the current GasGas design that is meant to compete with the current crop of Japanese motocross bikes.
GasGas's EC starts life as an enduro bike and right out of the box (stock) and IMO leads the pack in the off-road world the problem is getting the word out.
