I came across this thread because I wanted to install the checkpoint impeller to my 2015 300 ec.
For the record I had come across the nasty problem of the broken inner bearing which lead to the broken shaft in my 2006 ec 300 and when I opened it I found also that the plastic impeller was rubbing to the cover. Problem solved with the motocross center kit but after investigating the problem with my mechanic (also a close friend of mine) we came to realize that it wasn't the impeller the problem.

If you look closely to the shaft it has a grooving just before the part that sits inside the inner bearing just like the one it has after the plastic gear where the safety pin sits and holds the gear in place. In the inner grooving it has no safety pin 2006 and 2015 model as I found today. In my 06 we had come to the conclusion (thing about what you where saying about shaft braking when bike fell to that side and took a hit there!) that the bearing had taken his fare share of use and as the engine run and heated up the "nest" that the inner bearing sits loosened from heat and with nothing holding the bearing in place when the bike came to down to this side it had many chances to slip to the shaft and come out of place causing all the rest to go wrong.

Problem solved by adding an extra safety pin to the shaft before installing the cover back in place and then installed motocross center kit and let me tell you that this bike even when I was a newbie and with the hot weather we see 6 months of the year here in Greece it never spilled a drop of coolant again not only to me but also to my buddie who bought it.

Now it's time for the 2015 ec 300........ motocross kit doesn't work out of the box because the outer WP cover is different so it's checkpoint impeller for me this time. the next few days I will take pictures of the work in progress and also from what I am doing to the shaft with the extra pin.
