original NY title with me. Old GF Betsy still had it.
I may go back and see if the guy remembers me and would change the
form or do a re-VIN inspection with the correct manufacture date. Worth a try.

Otherwise it is 3-4 months wait to get an appointment with the CA. Highway
Patrol. They are "official" inspector in CA whenever there is confusion at
the DMV.

The last, and possibly best option, would be to have Betsy sign a DMV
bill of sale transferring the existing NY title, (with her Signature on the back)
over to me. Then proceed with the title and bike in hand back to DMV.
