I have the same bike and ride in similar temperatures, elevation and have torn both acl's.
When I got my bike it had a 38pj and 145mj with JD blue needle. I was fooling a lot of plugs from riding at slow speeds with my kids and the fuel millage was not so good.
A lot of the recommendation i saw were to go to a 40, 42pj and a 178,180, 182mj. There is a wide range of needles available, the two I will trying out are the NECW and NEDW.
Before putting the bike away for the winter I tried out a 165 mj and liked the results. Low end power seemed to have increased but it seemed like the bike took a longer time to warm up. I am very much looking forward to the snow melting but that wont be until end of April.
