Yes. You are right. You need that one to keep the (AC) voltage within limits. Connect it as you suggest, and you should be good to go. Mine (on the 06) is mounted in one of the coil screws.

Just to be 100% certain, you could of course measure the voltage using a multimeter (on AC) before connecting the lights.
