But the parts manual has 2 different numbers for the front wheel bearings.

The supplied bearings were 6003 same as the rear bearings, both labelled as 6003, BIE500118054 in the parts book.
So, should I have had one 6003 and another different one ???
I have e-mailed AllBalls to see what they say...

Did you look at the numbers on the bearings that you took out of the wheel? Do you still have them in order to check them?
