Default GG200 questions

Can anyone give me the low down on the GG200? I see from the published specs that the 2011 GG200 is supposed to weigh quite a bit less than the 250/300s. But it uses the same frame and engine bottom end. I'm confused how it is possible that this machine weighs so much less than the larger displacement models. Does it really weigh 15lbs less than the 250/300s?

Also did they stop making the 200 for 2012?

I'm currently riding a KTM 4T and am thinking of going back to a 2T and going with gasgas.

the actual weight difference is negligible - maybe a few pounds.

I know they are making a 2012 200. Other than that I don't know a whole lot about the 2012 or if anyone has any 2011 leftovers. I am curious if anyone has more information about the 200 as well.

I found a 200 six days bike but it is several states away and would have to be shipped. Its a 2011 model and the price is decent but unless these bikes weigh significantly less than the 250 I don't think I'll go that route.

GG website doesn't list the 200 in their 2012 lineup btw.

I know that they don't have it up on their site, but Clay, the US distributor posts on here often and he has recently said they are importing 23 200s for 2012.

The bikes all weigh the same within a couple pounds. They all use the same parts other than top ends and the 200 would have a different crank volume so different main cases and crank. The 200 does feel a bit lighter when riding but would feel the same when picking it up out of a hole. The 125 is much lighter as it uses an entirely different motor. Very flicky in the woods.

Hothands is correct. We are bringing in 23 200s. They are supposed to ship this week.
We convert the weight from what the factory gives us. I dont believe it is correct either. I have never weighed one or ridden one but I hope to spend a little time on one from this shipment.

Clay, thanks for info on the 200. Do you know if we will get any of the 2012 250 factory replicas in the states?

My first Gas Gas was a brand new '99 EC 200 back in '99. It was a riot to ride. I can't really place my finger on it, but the fun factor was very high on that bike. I moved up to the bigger bikes after riding them and realizing that there was no penalty in handling for the extra cc's. Of course, many years have passed since '99 and my riding style has changed a wee bit.

Dang, I just realized I've owned more Gas Gas brand motorcycles than any other. Hmm, I wonder how many folks can say that?

Spaugh,
We did not order any of the Replica bikes. There once was a major feature advantage in the Replica bikes over the standard/Race models but there is not now and they still cost $3000 more.
