Kick start - no compression

Hope you guys can help

I've got an "08 EC300, the problem lies where that, when I try to kick start the bike over there feels like theres hardly any compression, every time I kick or goto kick start, the lever always goes down halfway before there's any compression.
The guys I ride with have tried to start my machine to the same effect as your only getting half a kick.
Hope this makes sense and hope you can help.

I would start with the easiest thing first. Rotate your kicker shaft clockwise a bit and see if that helps.

Is it a starter engagement problem, where the crank does not start to move until the kickstarter is halfway down, or a compression problem?

Thanks for the replies guys, sounds like the crank issue GMP, but I don't really know.
One of the guys I ride with is gonna look at it when he has some free time, before it goes into a garage, just stopping me going out as, it's so hard to get going again....sigh
