Default How suitable is the EC300 as a short-trip commuter?

Hello everyone, I don't post here much, but I was wondering if I should find the lighting equipment to make my 2006 EC300 street-legal and maybe use it as a back-and-forth to work commuter? My street bike is AGAIN broken down, and it occurred to me that since my drive is only 6 mi one-way, I might get away with it. Is there a high-wear downside to the chain or top-end by driving it at 50 mph + for short distances (with the right tires, of course)?

6 miles will be fine, but it depends how fast the roads are, I dropped a 38 rear sprocket on and I can easily do 60 mph without the powervalve opening, after that it just wants to go

I only use my EC300 on the road, it handles it no problem with higher gearing. The standard lights are a bit weak, but if you stick to lit roads/ride in daylight, it's fine.

I ride 1-5 miles to the trail with 50 tooth gearing. Not the best but rides fine around 50mph.

Sell the road bike and buy something newer. Why wear out a competition bike and ride in the dirt less due to hassle of changing tyres when you have capital tied up but badly invested in an unreliable bike? SV650 are cheap for example
