Default EC 300 gas tank leak NEED HELP

Just discovered my new to me 05 EC300 leaks from holes made by sheet metal screws in shroud mounts near the top of the tank. On one side, the plastic insert is missing from the hole- gas pours out when leaned over, after removing the tank I found the other side with plastic insert still in place leaks when the sheet metal screw is removed from the hole. I didn't think the screws should be so long as to go through the tank, just bite into insert. Is this the original method of attachment to have screws go into tank? I feel like there is enough tank plastic in the bottom of the insert hole to remelt it back to a sealed condition, then use shorter screws or blunt end screws or both. Obviously have to be shorter to not go right back into the tank. Where can I get a plastic insert to go back in the hole? On a buget so can't just go get new Clarke tank. Thanks ahead of time for all the help or suggestions.

I have not had any luck with glue. Maybe try to clean it with brake parts cleaner to get rid of the oil then may be plastic weld it?

I had the same problem on my 06 200. I tredje different fixes but ended up buying a new 11 model tank. The newer tanks have threaded metal inserts which works very well.
This was at the same time when I installed my transformation kit, but I think the 11 tank works with the older plastic as well.

The Clarke tank inserts accepted a short machine screw. Doubtful you can get it clean enough to re-melt or use a 2-part epoxy successfully. The gasoline soaks into the plastic and inhibits adhesion but it's worth a try. Permatex makes a 2-part epoxy that comes with it's own mixing applicator, should be able to have any auto parts store get it for you if they don't already stock it. That's what I'd try first.
Good luck!

You may try an RV parts place.
They have a black tank repair kit that works really well on plastic.
