Default 125 Parts Interchange

Just curious if anyone has a list of which Japanese/KTM parts
work on the late model 125 and what works on the 200-300s.

I know the basic things swap - brake pads, sprockets, air filters - what else works?

From my searching it looks as if a 96 YZ125 rod and a 97-01 YZ125 piston will work in my 2011 125. I'm not sure about the clutch and such and it looks like I'm going to have to make myself a spark arrestor...

Ryan,

If your 125 is anything like my 250 was.....you won't need any parts!

The clutch parts are honda CR125 parts. The front sprocket is the same as a YZ125. The exhaust is very similar to a YZ125 exhaust. I have not tried to fit one though. The frame is smaller to match the smaller motor, the body parts interchange with the larger capacity models.

You may be wrong about the piston. The '01-'02 GG125 can run a '00 YZ125 piston because it is a domed piston. I thought the newer bikes like your '11 used a flat top piston. Do a search, I seem to remember someone using a CR125 flat top piston.

All else is correct, I think the '88 or '89 CR125 clutch parts are what works at least in the '01/'02 GG125. Reeds on '01/'02 are also YZ125 RAD valve reeds, but you should have the VForce. I would think the YZ Vforce and reed petals fit. Thing to remember is the cases and cylinder are VERY close. The PV parts in the cyl interchange with YZ parts but the governer parts are different.

Its like a beefed up YZ motor, and would make a good platform for a factory 150.

The new 125cc piston is definately a flat piston. Not sure what year they changed but by 2009 the flat style was the type used for sure. As far as if the new piston is the same as the Honda I'm not sure.
