Default correct seat ???

this has been playing on my mind for a while and forgive me if its petty.
right i supposedly have a 2003 ec300 as per its registration and log book.
I've looked at the part number on the base of the seat and it says BE250010015
so I've checked it on line it comes up as 2000 250 ec the seat does not fit snugly and bows were it rest on the tank leaving a gap and if i push it flush it will not line up at the back, as to be a inch to short.
I've looked for the correct one for the blue bike and its BE300310015 ????

is there a difference in the seats from a 99 or 2000 to my 2003 i gather the part numbers will differ do to colour or cc but not sure about years

again sorry if this is bone, but it would rather get the correct one and be done properly ask want to restore all the plastics, graphics and seat cover

thanks grant

The 99 seat is a different design than the 2000 and newer. The 99 fuel tank doesn't fit into the seat like the newer ones. Post a couple pics of your problem. I wouldn't think there should be a problem fitting a 00' seat on a 03' bike.

will try, just stripping down to check the piston and barrel and have a winter clean.
i have noticed the part that sits up on the tanks has been bent and has gone week. could be helping

Seems I remember the fuel tank and seat changed slightly in 2001 so if the 2 are mismatched there is minor fitment issues.
