Real bike weights?????????
I've been riding an 01 300 for a couple years now .Recently picked up an 05 250 ,this bike feels a ton lighter than the 300 but specs say only a few lbs difference .I assume every year the bikes get slightly lighter but there just seems a tremendous difference, even at low speeds so it shouldnt be the 300s inertia. The 250 just seems like riding a 200.Anyone know the real world weights of the different models? I even put a big tank on the 250 and its still lighter feeling by alot.

'05 had a frame change that made them feel lighter in turning, thats the biggest difference I think. I know my '07 (same main frame as '05) is a leap ahead of my '03. Power will always make a bike want to go straight and feel heavier and 300s pull harder off the bottom than the 250s.. Weight wise maybe a few lbs. less mostly from the new motor castings and lighter wheels.

Frame
Did they change the whole frame or just the subframe ?i have an extra subframe that was for the 05 .If it makes that big of a difference i'll change it

They changed the main frame in 05' to a steeper steering head angle, they only changed to a new subframe in 07'
So no, an 05' subframe on your 01 would not make it as nimble as your 05' 250. |
