Default Quest for a Pipe Guard

I've ask around, even put a word in at GasGasUK, Trialenduro.com and Gofasters.

It seems no one has made a Carbon Fiber Pipe guard that fits the "new" 2009/2010 bend for the OEM GasGas pipe.

Does anyone know of one? And maybe some pics also. I would like one that fits the expansion chamber.

it aint carbon fiber, but hyderacing.com makes a pipeguard skidplate combo that fits 07 to current gasgases. i have the older one on my ec250, but i havn't gotten to test it out yet, but there are some threads in the chassis section about them. the part is around $175. the frame mount isnt the best, but its reletively easy to make a different one. otherwise it went on pretty easy.

I've tried carbon fibre guards and the hyde. The carbon fibre lasted 3 seasons, and the hyde lasted 1.5 seasons. Both broke in half. For my new bike, I've gone to what I think is the ultimate pipe guard:

Very nice!

I assume you made it? Did you draw up any plans before or bend it as you went?

Could you also explain how you attach it to the bike, looks like you have welded some nuts to the frame? is this strong enough?

Thumbs up

I have seen silver colored one's just like that for sale on some website. Probly a Australian site. Maybe Force.com?
I like it alot, but would like a few more cross pieces to guard against all those sharp rocks that seem to hit from all angles.
I found the site. Whips makes one for the Ktm. Maybe would fit?

There's a local guy who makes these. No plans or drawings though, all custom built since he does it on a bike by bike basis. Nuts are welded to the frame. It will eventually bend into the pipe with enough abuse, but it will definitely out last a carbon fiber or hyde pipe guard, and protects the pipe a lot better.

Keep in mind I very rarely dent a pipe and instead usually kink it from bashing into logs. Since I started riding trials I've started to ride over the logs better so hopefully this will out last the bike.

My girlfriend runs a carbon fiber pipe guard in conjunction with the cage on her KTM for added protection, but truth is I just can't afford to go spend a bunch of money on the carbon fiber one considering I rarely have denting issues.

For reference, the whole guard weighs about 3 pounds (it's made from tubing).

I don't speak Italian, but I think that is Euro + value added tax or whatever they call it. You shouldn't have to pay that shipping to the USA I don't think. 75 Euro is right at $100 American I believe.
