I sold one. They have a Derbi engine and run real good. This one was an early one and they had ignition problems but the new stator has never missed a beat and the bike has been durable. Parts shouldnt be a problem as i ordered some stuff for stock and they had it back then.

The GasGas 65cc bike has a Derbi Engine? Like the one in the picture?
This is a picture of my Derbi SM50. How about the GasGas 50cc SM bike. I am pretty sure it is not a Derbi engine.... But what do I know....not much for sure. I asked here a few weeks ago about the motor in the GasGas 50SM. I think someone said it was a Minarelli. I'll have to go back and see. Thanks for any clarification. Jeff, So. Cal. |

Hey steve. I have an MC65 '06 for my kid, and I know nickname:'brains' here have one too. We have been mailing quite alot regarding the MC65. We were trying to put together a gasgasrider wiki page on the MC65 but we haven't gotten around to it yet.
The MC65 is a very powerful mini crosser with a very distinct power boost when coming on the pipe. The engine is definately a pre 2005 derbi engine, six gears. AJP hydraulic clutch. Marzocchi 35mm forks, one leg has compression dampening, the other has rebound. I'll ask webmaster to open a MiniGasser forum section. |

Are they expensive?

In sweden the prices for new bikes is the same as pumpkins.
Some spare parts are pretty expensive, especially piston/cylinders. But since it's a derbi engine, it should be possible to find substitutes. However I have not found the 65cc metrakit cylinder anywhere in the aftermarket shops, but 70cc cylinder kits are virtually everywhere. |

Don't confuse the 50 and 65. They are completely different bikes. The "EC50 boy" is a "TXT Boy 50" trials bike with seats and moto tires. Motors are very similar to a KTM mini adventure, but unique to Gas Gas.
The "MC50" and "MC65" are Gas Gas/Derbi hybrids. And for fun, there's the "EC50 Rookie" or "SM50 Rookie", whose motors were based on the "TXT80" trials, but in downsized EC frame. Clear as mud?
