Smokin deal on HD Hero anyone?
I saw this deal and had to jump on it. Thought about passing it along to my GG brothers and sisters.
http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.a...mid=200&ref=cj Use coupon code GOPRO25 and get it for $135. I did try to win "everything they make", but no luck so I pulled the trigger!

Its not the 1080, there was some confusion in the description, but from what I read on one site the 1080 is a little too much for a helmet cam. Anyway, I ordered it at 4 pm, it was on the Fed Ex truck by 5:30 pm and had it in a couple of days. Its a great little package, includes all kinds of stuff you would normally have to buy extra like the headband mount, two different sticky mounts, and a short adjustable arm.
The video quality really surprised me, and I do photography and video production for a living. I never would buy one of these things because I figured I would never be satisfied with the quality, but I was wrong. Its not as good as some of my other cameras of course, but much better than I imagined and better than examples you see on the web. The 960 is the way to go as far as form factor, it gives a much better aspect ratio than widescreen for use on pretty much anything I could imagine for a POV camera. Also the sound quality really impressed me, no wind noise! The only complaint I had was what is known as roll off, which is a term used for gradation from bright to dark, or rather lack of. It goes from brighter, brighter, to completely white rather quickly. In a bright blue sky there would be a white arch near the horizon that lacked any color or detail even though it wasn't that bright and not much brighter than the sky, even 180 degrees from the sun. I have only used it once, maybe it won't be as bad in future trips, and I was on top of a mountain which made it much more apparent. It was certainly worth the money!

The coupon code above at the same website (different product link) worked for the GoPro HD helmet cam, too. The link above no longer worked so I tried other GoPro cameras on the same site and snagged an HD Helmet model for $75 or so off the MSRP and free shipping. If your interested in one I have not seen a better deal on a new one!

Its worth it for the 1080 it has many updates beyond just the HD settings, like sound, and handles adverse lighting better. $225 is a great deal on those.

Gopro has their original SD for $99! For someone like me who will only use the thing a couple of times a year, I was thinking that might be the way to go.
