UK 250 2008 EC Poor Tickover
The tickover has been gradually getting worse over the last year or so.
Due to family commitments I don't get the chance to get out for a run as often as I used to do. So this time fresh petrol, carb cleaned, new oiled air filter, repacked silencer, checked petrol cap, fresh plug, changed reeds, but the bike still won't tick over cleanly. I've tried to make sure that there are no air leaks by squirting a can of easy start at the carb and sides of engine and all seems to be ok. In higher revs the bike runs fine. On slower trails as soon as I slow down and shut the throttle off, the bike wants to run on. I've tried to adjust the air screw and tickover screw but I can't get the right balance. When cold I have to use the choke for a couple of minutes. If I shut off the choke to early the bike will die. Eventually the bike will run ok, but struggles to tick over. The bike has around 85 of engine hours. Any advice much appreciated. |
