The head mod does help. My '03 was originally the piggy of the three but cleaned up nicely. 45 to 55 till reserve depending on the right hand, you should not need a big tank for these bikes for enduros. Even the 300s are pretty good when set up right, WAY better on gas than the KTM300s I've had experience with.

I never saw a new PWK AS II carb, but I would think it logical that the float valve should be just closing as the float is level. This works out to be 16mm in the original AS carb.
