Jets, stock sizes for 2005 EC300?

I have scoured this site, and the rest of the internet, and can't seem to find what my EC300 came stock with in 2005. In the parts manual I downloaded, it shows a 185 main, but doesn't list what the pilot might be, and the 3 optional needles (but I don't know whic needle is in it right now).
I popped my carb apart yesterday, and found a 178 Main and a 48 Pilot. I'm just trying to figure out a baseline from which to start from. My EC300 runs smooth, with a bit of bogginess off the bottom, but feels more 'tame and mild' than it should.....I'm only guessing, but I think the front tire should be trying to come up a bit more than it does.
By scouring this site, and looking at similar setups (300's running at 3000 to 5000 feet ASL), it would seem I am way rich. Looks like a 172-175 Main and a 42 Pilot would be more of the ballpark; any comments on this?
And as an opinion, this was my first time EVER pulling a bike carb........good times! The needle was relatively east getting at, except for the whole 'hold the spring pushpull the cable while trying to not get hit in the eye by the white clip' episode! Crack another beer. Then finding out you need to drop the bottom bowl to get at the pilot, WTF?!?!? Especially when one stoopid Philips head screw stripped out, had to use small visegrips to turn it. Other than that, it was only 2- 1/2 hours out of my life to get at the main, pilot and needle. Cracked another beer when it was all back together and the bike actually fired up.......

Stock configuration is the best place to start from.

Except on a GG dirtbike where they are just jetted wrong.

Spend some time reading the different set ups, order what seems to be a decent needle & start from there. Once you've got it good you won't have to dick around anymore. . .unless you become obsessive like our man Jake.

Obviously a guy wants to play it safe and check the plug, making sure you aren't leaning out your engine. I have a buddy picking me up a 175 main and a 42 pilot from town, so I might start playing with those soon.

The great news is that even if you get crazy about making it perfect once its there its done and you'll need to find something else to obsess over.

As above, the stock jetting is way off for just about everywhere, and the magic is in the needle profile. A quick search of the jetting database should turn up some ballpark configurations for your bike.
