Interesting, I was hoping the half clip leaner would allow it to come onto the pipe a tad sooner while retaining the bottom end torque.
I have a feeling it may just be the powervalve opening a smidge too late.
Fuel economy seemed better with the N3 needle and it made more power then the NExJ. I like it in this motor and going back the N3CW was the first needle I tried in it and I loved it and the economy I got out of it. Before I make any changes I need to do a solid single track ride to evaluate jetting and real economy.

Is it worth trying a 40 pj on my 300? I'm not at the '2.5 out therefore go smaller on the pj' point yet. I've got a few needles inc n3eg ( which jay ships them with in sydney), a NECW, NECJ and another N3CW I think. Happy with 1/4 throttle onwards ( better on rain map), but not as strong nor clean off the bottom as my 2010. Thanks gurus!

Probably won't hurt in summer. If you prefer it in the rain map though sounds like you are chasing smoother power delivery. In which case drop the pilot, drop the main a size or two and throw that NECJ in clip 3. Read the jetting database and see Simmos last jetting for his '13. He seemed happy with it.

I keep saying it, but I suspect they have changed the mapping on the newer bikes, in combination with some porting differences. My 2013 has never ran the same off the bottom as my 2010.

Different ignitions for sure which means highly likely there are some differences.

N3CJ = dual taper
NECJ = triple taper

N3xx is usually run a touch richer as its leaner in the mid range, and with a larger main as it leans out again towards WOT. This gives the strong torquey bottom end, with aggressive transition and good over rev.

NExx starts similar, but then adds more fuel around half throttle smoothing the transition, and then supplies loads of juice right up to WOT. Good for clean, smooth, linear delivery, but sometimes can lack a bit in the small openings.

Why not?

If you dropped from a 42 to a 40 if anything it should have idled up?
