I'm back!
Wow! What a great time we had down south in California. The riding is fricken killer. I cant wait to go down again. A week wasn't enough when you take away 2 days just for driving. Anyhow here are a couple of pages of pics with descriptions and I will get some helmet cam footage together soon for ya all.
If link don't work you can see the pics in the members gallery under Californivacation. Enjoy, Roscoe http://www.gasgasrider.org/gallery//...ry.php?cat=543

I didn't know you were going to Stonyford on your trip. That's one of my favorite places to ride because it's so diverse.

Glad to hear you had a good trip. Sorry I was not able to join you.
Just got my GasGas running again last weekend. The new (to me) 2K3 stator works!...so far.... I need to check the charging voltage so I don't fry my little 1.2ah battery. And replace my Leonelli 12V AC turn signal flasher with one that will work on DC. Thanks for the pictures. Jeff, So. Cal. |

We had a great time at Stonyford it was a bit wet in places so it reminded me of home much more than the desert. From red clay to granite rock. From jeep wide to single track it has it all as you mention. Unfortunately much of the highest altitudes are still under snow drifts so I didn't get a chance to see it all. I will go back preferably on a week day or during an event weekend though as that place is popular and turns into a real party on Friday night. I hear some enduros are put on there and it is only around 12 hours from my place, so I may have to take a drive and check it out. California's riding is cool cause it still has nasty hill climbs that go straight up or meander up the mountain, unlike the majority of Washington where Salmon conservation has turned most straight up climbs into switch backs which can still be a challenge but it was good to blast up mountains and conquer them or be shut down by the power robbing terrain and gravity's force. Man there are some monster hill climbs over past the C trails that were unbelievable, I had a blast. Some of those are nearly unclimbable. A few of us guys had fun challenging each other to the top of the many runs available. I made it up this one mountain and felt a bit uneasy on top as it was only a foot wide ridge line I'm guessing around 400 feet up and now I had to find a new way down, no stopping cause there wasn't any place to put your feet down. Choose and go, hope for the best, so steep you cant see what your into until its to late, your committed and not stopping till you hit the bottom. I could have stayed and played on these climbs all day but unfortunately the others were waiting patiently, this was a family ride to go to Randsberg so we were limited on time. That hour at that place is etched into my brain, that alone was worth the 22 hour drive down. Too cool! Roscoe
