Okay, I tried a 160 main jet and new spark plug. Still runs like crap. But with petcock off it ran OK. I also noticed that the carb is dripping some gas.. I guess that the floater must be the problem! But i have measured the float height (16.5mm) It must be sticking somehow then??

Hmm have a good look at the condition of the float valve as well as if there is anything to cause the float to stick. If all looks ok just try setting the float gap larger and see what happens.

I'm not sure messing with the main is going to be a good test as until you're at 3/4 throttle it'll be masked by needle size and notch. Unless you have a long straight where you just hold it wide open for a long time - in which case I'd be very wary of making a large change in the lean direction!

Only make ONE size change at the time (ie from 178 to 175) and WRITE down the results.
Float level MUST be done correctly first and use the spark-plug colour as a guide.

It can be a tedious job, especially when changing the pilot jet as you will need to remove the bowl each time. The main jet can be changed by just removing the carb drain plug.

If you remove the chain case saver you quite easily rotate the carb in place.

okay, i put in 170 main jet instead and adjusted the float height to about 18mm
Now the top end is good! easy to wheelie
No idle though, gonna look into that now.
