2006 EC250 to EC300 conversion
Hi All, great forum! I am intrested in converting a 2006 EC250 to a EC300. I have done a comparison of the parts list between both models and there only seems to be jetting, cylinder, gasket, piston and ring differences....has anybody done this conversion or have a list of exactly what parts need to be changed.

I have not done the conversion myself, but I was interested in it previously.
When I contacted GoFasters, I was told the following parts are needed... Minimum Requirements:
I also recall that the PV was updated a few years ago. I'm guessing the 2006 and later uses the same one. PV assembly would be in the $180-$200 range. If your CDI does not have a dual switch capability, then this is another option that you can add to get the latest feature. The CDI would be in the $350-$400 range. DISCLAIMER: The prices above are only "ball park numbers" and any final prices should be requested from your dealer. This just gives you an idea of what to expect for doing a conversion.

What MattR said for a parts list is about it. I'm not sure if the power valve is the same, even if it is I would want all the parts so I could leave the 250 jug ready to go back on.
I have a complete set up that I bought on this site used and in great shape for $500. Keep looking and you'll see them come up, I passed on 3 or 4 before I pulled the trigger. Very easy to do, no different then a piston change.

Got my gas gas ec300
Well, no worries for me to convert a EC250 to 300 spec, just picked 300 up at a bargin of a price....06 model...the guy has ridden it twice sinced new...go figure. But this is not the best part! With this purchase I got a 06 EC125 rolling chasis....only the motor & radiator is missing....this bike two was only ridden twice before the motor was sent back for warrenty claim....but it got lost in the post....so I think I got a very good deal....paid $4000 for the lot.
Now my question is, can a 300 motor fit in the 06 EC125 chassis? |

converting a 250 to 300
I have an 05 ec 250 that i would like to convert to 300. I live in Alberta Canada. I would like a detailed parts list so I can figure out cost. I would use Claude in Okotoks A.B. or just order straight from Gofaster. Is there another supplier??.

Dunno though I'm always surprised at how hard the 200 pulls on the pipe its just that if she isn't confident the 125 might not have enough bottom end for her to putter around on. Better still find a nice 250 4 stroke air cooled motor if it's just for puttering. |

I have changed the top ends around. I went from the 300 to the 250 05,same as 06. 1/2 an hour job.

OK, I decided to do a 300 conversion on my 08' ec250.
Found a barrell and head from a nice chap in the US. Called me parts supplier to sort out a piston kit and gaskets. He said the conversion is a bad idear, as its not just the jug that's different. I knew I would need a carb spacer, which I have, but the crank flywheel and ignition unit is also different on the 250 to the 300? as the ignition curve is different? Anyone agree with this? I'm gonna call GG UK tomorrow as their technical guy is quite helpfull. I dont know what to do now |
