Question Workshop Manual & Tyre Size Advice

Hi

I have recently bought a 2000ish (51 registered) EC250, I am struggling to find the correct manual for the bike on the net, does anyone have anywhere that they can suggest. I have got a 2003 and 2007 manual but these are too new for my bike!

Also, the bike currently has 90/90-21 (front) and 110/100-18 (rear) tyres on it, I'm not sure if these are right and I need to replace them so any guidance as to what to replace with would be really appreciated! The front rim size is J21x1.60 and the rear J18x2.15.

Any advice would be really appreciated

Thanks

Simon

You won't be able to find a '00 manual. I have a '01 parts manual and '02 owners manual (both pdf versions). The owners manual provides very basic info. The parts manual is useful to see what crosses over to the newer model years. I'm not sure how similar the '00 and '01 bikes were. The '06 "workshop" manual provides instructions on engine disassembly and rebuild. You can download this manual off the GasGas Corp. website. It was the only year made, but is useful for most model years.

Regarding the tires, it really depends on what brand you are running. If the 110 width rear is a Michelin tire, then it is too skinny for the EC250 in my opinion. I preferred the 130 width. The 140 width was stock, but that is a bit wide. If you are running other brands such as Metzeler, Maxxis, etc.. then the 110 width is good. In other words, a 110 Metzeler = 130 Michelin... 120 Metzeler = 140 Michelin. Yeah, tire sizing is a bit mess up with Michelins.

Different manufacturers us size measurements.

Check out the conversion chart here:

I replaced my stock Michelin 130/80-18 with a Maxxis 110/100-18. They are the same size, just using different measurement systems.
