Default IS it possible to reverse the petcock on 2012

I cannot seem to get comfy with the awkward rear facing petcock. Has anyone tried installing it the "proper" way?

I did it on my 12 only problem was the lever hit the cylinder while riding and would move it to the reserve. Cut the corner of the lever and works well.

Yep. Early ones had the rear facing tap which got cut and reversed as mentioned here, but later-build bikes had it installed the "proper" way from the factory.

Mine is forward facing but I need to cut the end off due to it hitting the cylinder.

My '12 250 faces foward just like on the old bikes, no issues. I can't see how the lever length would make a difference with whats on mine. They must have used some weird petcock on the early '12s that required rear facing to clear.

Regardless of the petcock, I'd add a fuel filter, because the screen on the tube inside falls off.
