Rode a friends KTM 350 last weekend for an extended period. OK, let me get the obligatory "opinion" statement out there; It's just my opinion, but, man I just don't get it. I'll take any GG 300/250 any day. It had flat power, didn't steer as well and was kind of boring. Rode another friends '13 450 the week before. Couldn't wait to get back to my 300. GasGas makes an awesome 2 stroke woods bike. Period.

I think boring is as great description of the ktm 350. Sometimes boring is good though. The stopwatch didn't lie in my case.

True. And, noted. Sometimes I find that the fastest way through the woods on the 300 is smoother (slower?) and steady. It's just being an "old" 2 stroke guy from way back, the lack of any hit with the 350 to me was mmm, boring.

I think eviljim, rostafish, and bkwdc nailed the reason I ride a gasser. Yes I probably would be faster through the woods on a small bore 4stroke but I would find it more boring to ride. On the other hand a more snappy 2stroke would be more exciting than my gasser until I come across a very technical section which happens often where I ride. I understand that there are people who want a bike whose front wheel is pawing at the air in every gear and others who want a bike that is so 4stroke(tractable, smooth, and boring) that it can be rode on autopilot like a video game. I'm in the middle that's why my ec250 is perfect for me. I don't have the skills to push a snappy 250 2stroke to its' limit and a small bore 4stroke doesn't inspire me to push my riding limits. I'm glad we're not all the same - it makes life more interesting.
