Typically 11,12 or 1\2"(12.45)mm. Its all about leverage. Smaller bore means more leverage but more travel. Radial are larger bore but lever acts on it differently. .
There is a sweet spot for caliper to mc ratio. Try this, there is a sweet spot for lever position. Your hand works best at some point. I've only just realised I had it out too far. But then again I'd rebuilt the mc and it had less travel to it. So what was best compromise before was clumsy later.

I think that the main performance difference between your GG and the CR250 is the rotor diameter, GG is 260mm whereas the Honda is 240mm. I would first try an oversized rotor ,I think then that you'll find it similar. Next try a braided brake line, at that point you'll have the same mc, line, caliper, and rotor on both bikes. If you are still not satisfied then you can swap to the 07-present CRF 250/450R only (not 250/450X or 07 cr125/250) front mc which has an improved feel at the lever compared to the earlier unit. From what I can tell the GG mc is the same as the pre 2007 Honda models so if you were to make all of the suggested changes you could obtain greater performance from the Honda vs the GG.

Yup. Again leverage. Bigger rotor means longer arm you can pull up the hub with.

I just installed a Nissin front master cylinder from a 2011 GG on my Honda. BIG DIFFERENCE. Just a lot more feel and power. I will give her a test ride and post an update.
