Im finding these clutch sqeal threads really baffling as in 6 years of owning gasgas enduros ive never heard a noise out of the clutch..
Does it happen under extreme loads? or am i easier on the clutch? and it dosent just seem to be that i have a one off bike as 2 friends that i ride with both have the Ec 300 and i havent heard anything from theirs either.

Style dependent no doubt. If your a heavy user or abuser, you may hear it. I only get a very slight squawk in VERY tight NJ trees where your at walking speed and slipping the clutch in second gear to control torque, and its hot out. This is murder on any clutch and what really kills the four stroke clutches. No damage and the oil isn't even that bad when its dropped. I'd be a little leary about drilling/cutting the basket and setting up stress points where a crack could start from. Like what Steve said these are the best clutches in the business.

The clutch on my 08 EC 300 squawks...when I'm super abusing it.
And it is when your crawling slowly thru tight technical terrain. We have riverbed sections that we ride up hill, they have switchbacks with logs, step-ups where you have to loft the front end and do a rear wheel pivot to spin the bike sideways up an over an obstacle...trials type stuff. |

2011 ec300 clutch squeel
Has there been any feedback on this matter , hav'nt seen anything posted for a while .\\\\\just got back from a weekend riding in the mountains and my bike sounded terrible , not a good sign when 12 other blokes comment on this not being normal especially on a new bike , not good for Gasgas sales either .
Anyway have contacted the importer in South Africa who will contact the factory , I hope I can resolve this and apparantly I'm not the only one in South africa with this problem , even one of the race team members and many others have this problem . Maybe you guys in the states have had feedback , if so can anyone please share the solution to this problem . Many thanks |

Others have more experience with Gasgas and can probably give you better feedback. And i know ive seen pictures of what im going to describe. But my 07 ec300 ISDE bike has never squeeled. When I opened up the motor for other reasons, I see the "webbing" between the fingers of the clutch basket has been machined away. I abuse this bike and if the basket was going to break because of this it would have by now. Where the fingers of the basket attach to the back of the basket you will see raised material between the fingers, on my bike this is gone and I have no problems. This allows oil to get to the bottom plates better. Worth looking at, as this was likely done by the ISDE team when the bike was new.

I understand and saw the pictures of the new basket with the webbing between the fingers , but what I dont understand and perhaps someone can shed some light on this is how does the oil reach the clutch plates when it is spinning , I mean how will it improve oil flow without the webbing , I would imagine it would be better to add more holes on the inner hub .
