Over my dead body. If it came to pass I would build an effigy of Josep Piebernat, set fire to it and dance naked around it.

Honda, although their products are excellent are devoid of any ethics or sportsmanlike behaviour. Witness their treatment of McGrath and, latterly, Valentino.

Honda already owns a Spanish trials company. Montesa is wholly owned by Honda and they use Honda engines.

Yes and they've just kicked Montesa in the nuts. Terminally.

Honda bought Montessa already.

I like Gas Gas the way they are. I just want more success for them in sales.

Honda have owned Montesa since 1983. They have also just told Montesa or the remnants of Montesa that they no longer exist. Honda have used Montesa as a front for their involvement in trials and will no longer supply engines to Montesa. Ergo Montesa is dead. However they will continue to field a team in the world trials championship on bikes that have very little in common with the bikes you could buy.

If Martin Belair reads these forums he could clear things up.

Speaking of Spanish trials Mfgs, I was stunned to see all the internet photos of a new Ossa. I can't find anything about them other than those pics. Whats the story with those bikes?

i would rather they slow ploduction to a crawl, and charge double for each bike, than to have them taken over by some rich corporation that is ONLY interested in making MORE money, i guess i would pick honda if it were up to me, and it was close down or choose. honda has made quality, reliable cars and bikes for a long time.
but the problem with any other company taking over, how many still make 2ts? what about sled amnufacturers? i remember reading an article on here last year about a super efficient atd clean 2 stroke sled motor, id love to see them make a baby that brings the 2 stroke into the portion of the market it occupied 15 or 20 years ago..

To me, it seems like to be competitive in the future, Gas Gas will need EFI technology for its popular 2T's.. And from the outside, Gas Gas appears to be a company with limited resources to develop such technology. (how many years has GG been developing a 250 4t?!)

A good fit for a partner is a company that has 2T EFI technology working now with little overlap in the lineup... Aprilia comes to mind with its DI 2T 50cc scooter. Polaris is another one that seems like a good fit, now that KTM isn't partnering with them.

I would think any partner that helps advance Gas Gas product would be a good thing.. and going at it alone will only mean a less competitive product range in the long run.

From reading that last post, I'd say Evinrude. Their outboards pretty much smoke any four stroke, they're lighter, and their power to weight ratio is ridiculous, not to mention they're nearly silent.

Evinrude is owned by bombardier isn't it??
The technology they use on the boats and sled is too big cumbersome for a dirtbike. Gotta think they would be using it in their quads already if it was feasable
