That's what I do. I bought a 1l. bottle of 90 wt. gear oil with a pointed spout. Works great. (I use Rotella 5-40, not the 90 wt.)

I have a little vacuum pump for doing brake bleeds. I thought I might be able to drop the intake tube into my oil can and just hand pump it to the engine case.

I also have a little drill motor powered water pump, but it has hose fittings for pumping water.

I will continue my search for a syringe of the larger variety.

Since I do most of my riding in the sand, I will just leave the skid plate off.

Heres a tip,, Lean the bike over and rest it on a wall or tree,, its way easier to fill, on the stand it leans to you,,

In the past I have also removed the clutch cover and filled my gearbox. A piece of notebook paper works nicely as a funnel when wrapped lightly around the clutch basket. My '97 YZ250 was harder to fill because of the pipe being about 5mm above filler hole. This works pretty well when you have forgotten or misplaced your funnel/gear oil bottle.

A gear oil pump works for filling the Gassers, but I get tired of pumping those things.

I have plans on making a fill kit. How hard could it be. Time to go to Home Depot.

As types of oil containers change from different parts of the world, this may help, may not.

I use ATF in my 300, it comes in a bottle with a pull out stem. The stem has a small lip around the top of it, cut the stem just below to get rid of it and you will land up with with the perfect dia to push tightly into your oil fill hole.

Just squeeze and fill, takes about 2 minutes.
