I too have had it since day one on my 05' 300de.Last week noticed its getting a little deep so gave the stand itself a good tweak out and away,the tape things a great idea i'll try that this weekend and see if I tweaked it out far enuff.

All 3 of my bikes kick stands have rubbed eventually. Tweak em got better, crash, repeat, or they just wear and get sloppy at the pivot.
Just getting dirt and rocks caught between the 2 can gouge the swing arm, and will also happen between the rear brake master cylinder and swing arm and the other side also if you ride really gravelly areas with clay or gumbo muds. The rubbing is well worth having a stand IMO. Roscoe

why not just take it off and use a tree. they are a pain in the ass anyway

+1, My thoughts exactly!
Mine goes in the cooler with a bolt and on the gas truck at enduros where the gas stop may be next to a field or roadside void of trees. |
