Yeah,we all wouldnt mind seeing a brand new yz300 with a 6spd,but i cant see it happening.enjoy whatever 2stroke you can,while you can!
Markets too small,funpolice are too self righteous,electrics are getting closer to useful. I really hope im wrong tho! Come on yamaha,flip the masses the bird and give us a 300!

The yz250x never crossed my mind. No lighting coil, kick start, cable clutch and 5 speed gear box no way not for me. After spending 2 hours riding my favourite ST on one, I must have!
I have a well set up Beta race and my wife has a EC250 with SSS front suspension that I ride also and that Yamaha flat out works way better than I thought it would. If you get a chance make sure you ride one before you say no. |

Article has the YZ250X at 229 full fuel (2.1gal). 2.1 X 6.2 = Yamaha YZ250X curbs out at ~ 216. So, 25-30 pounds less than an armored and fueled GG. |

My buddy had bought an X 3 weeks before me, but he works the exact opposite shift as me so I never had a chance to test it before I bought one for myself.
I was sooooooo close to buying a Sherco SE-R 250, literally had my CC out and was gonna put a deposit down....and my gut said no. Not enough support and dealerships around, yet, to take the plunge. Sherco is supposed to be a hell of a good bike, but I couldn't pull the trigger. The Yamaha deal all fell together so good, and I am really happy. Just put a Rekluse in it, my first Rekluse in a bike, and holy mother of dog, I am lovin it! Not gonna make me lazy, but its gonna get rid of those retard moments of mine where I didn't get on the clutch in time, or screw up on some snarly hill. Definitely made me faster. As for the weight, I realize its hard to find exact real-world numbers, but yes, this bike is light compared to my old Gasser. Although a bit bigger tank would be nice....my Gasser had amazing range and low fuel consumption. |

Ok so to make a fair comparison we would add bark busters, skid plate, spark arrestor, lights and an extra couple pounds for the larger GG full gas tank they are only about 10 lbs apart.
Based upon my 2004 ec300 and xc250 being 250 wet. |

I would want to weigh the bikes myself. I don't trust any published weights. My buddy is bringing his scale down from NY when he comes down for the 4th of July. Maybe we'll carry it into the yamaha store. I'll be weighing my gasser for sure and also a new yz250fx.

Weighing bikes can be done with a bathroom scale - put the scale ?ber each tyre and add the two together
My first attempt I thought it would be fine to just put it under the bike lift and sump and lift the bike - I knew the GG was heavy when that method broke the scale - the wife was not impressed!! But this is all academic unless you talking extreme Enduro where you are having to pick up the bike numerous times otherwise it's how heavy the bike rides that counts and with its mx pedigree I would guess the yammi rides pretty light too
