The TM has a large twin spar perimeter frame, like a CR/CRF, where the YZ is more conventional. This is where Skidad's "bulkyness" comment originates I assume. To be fair, you really have to ride it. I had a Cannondale, with a huge oil filled alloy perimeter frame. That bike was also the narrowest bike I ever owned.

WE need to be together in the promoting of the non Australian and Non Japanese brands of bikes, so that one day we will see a real dirt review of Motorcycles TM,GASGAS,HUSABERG,HUSKY,BETA,SHERCO in an unbiased opinion of riders...Instead of always seeing the same ol same ol...
Dont go blaming us for building pumpkins Down Under although I think they must be breeding down here somewhere! I agree, anybody building smokers now gets my vote. Great bikes TM, wish there were more of em around. |

I had one of those beauties. The plastic was actually fairly pink. The graphics were equally loud.

TMs are known for their handling, they are the modern day Maico. The owners at TM are very conservative. The cost outlay to go to AL was not small. The would not have made the change if they felt it didn't improve the bike. That being said, I have not ridden an AL framed TM to confirm.

I rode with a guy from CO the had a TM250 i had a chance to ride for about 10 miles in some real nice conditions. Can not remember what year it was, 03/04 model bike i think. Had Ohlins front and rear, lot's of trick parts every where, pics don't do these justice they are beautiful bikes. The Ducati 1098R of dirt bikes. The bike was best when rode very and i mean very agressive. A race bike for sure, not a trail bike, i guess one could spend money and tame it but why buy on if that's waht your going to do. On the other hand if your fast this bike will fit you just fine. I like it but it was a little to much for my style, reflexes get a little slower when your pushin 50. If i was still in my 30's i'd go for it. Also NO DEALERS in the west!!!!!!!
