I live in Alberta Canada and I'm not paying anything close to 400! I pay 120 a year for ohv insurance plus theft. I payed 400 for full coverage on my crotch rocket!

That's about what I paid in NJ. $427 for a Ducati Hypermotard from Foremost, because they are a team sponsor.

I'm totaly serious about the insurance rates in ONTARIO...the land of leagalized insurance rape. Dont even get me started on land taxes or income tax etc.....was $1.31 a litre for regular fuel this morning too....yes thats $5 an american gallon.

I was getting sick of my rates and decided to shop around, most companies were double on my bikes. I got quotes from 6 companies and ended up staying with my insurer. My driving record is 100% clean, 38 years old, married etc.

A friend of mines daughter was quoted $3600 a year to insure a 2012 CBR250 she is 16 and only has her M1. Yes you read that right, more to insure it for a year than the purchase price of the bike.

Nambo-Trev, I live in Alberta ( close to Edmonton ) and paid $500 for my 2011 GasGas 300 Race last season. I originally had a KX250F and was paying around $250 a year but they upped it to $500 for the new bike and told me that they were doing me a favor to even insure it ( min coverage with theft ). They acted as if it were the same as a $30000 Harley. If you don't mind who do you deal with for your insurance? I definitely will not be paying $500 again and need a new insurance broker. In case anybody is wondering why I bother with insurance, it is because they enforce it here with huge fines for no insurance/registration. We also have to carry our drivers licence and display the plate mounted on the bike. Big pain in the butt money grab!

I will never complain about the cost of insurance here again. You guys to the north are getting bent over.

In the UK (land of c. $9 US / US gallon fuel), road insurance for enduro bikes is reasonable. I pay around $152 US for a years cover. The insurance isn't worth the paper it's written on, but it's a legal requirement to ride on the road. We also have to buy a road tax disc (about $55 US), which is ok, but the government has created a screwed up system, where automatic fines are issued if you have a current tax disc, but your insurance expires, regardless of whether or not the bike is actually used on the road. If you're caught riding without tax or insurance, I believe the police are able, under some circumstances, to summarily confiscate your bike and crush it.

The way I see it in the UK, don't be forgetful about paying taxes, don't own a vehicle you can't afford to have stolen and hope no one knocks you off your bike.

Just got a quote for $125/yr full coverage (medical, theft, collision) for my 03 cr250 and $195/yr for the 12 EC300 thru progressive. $250 deductible for both. Going to apply online and see how much I save teehee...

Applied online and was only able to receive half the coverage with twice the deductible. My ins agent must be on her toes...

I think I pay $100 a year on the GG with a $250 Ded, that is also for theft and they know it's plated. This is through Progressive. Oh i also have $3,000 in accessory coverage so GPS, and all the aftermarket stuff I added its covered with no hassle in fighting with them.
