Ended up going to a solid cover again, not sure if it is an older type or a 13 type though. My bet is that it is the older version. Cheers Mark

Check and see if the part number cast on the inside has a 'Mg' preceding it.

That would make it more than 1100 km from my place
![]() Don't think that's gonna happen, but those rocky, muddy singletail's does sound tempting ![]() Where did you buy your cover? Just checked the Spanish and German sites and they are all out of stock on the '12 cover..

Thanks for the link. But I think I'm gonna try to find it elsewhere..
That guy is making too much money on his spares ![]() The cover is normally prized at around 11Euro, the one on that site it's more than 2x more. ![]()

The '12 cover is fine after being lapped flat on a glass plate, along with the ignition cover. Mine weeped a little stock now no issues. That said, you have to wonder if the oil scavanging vanes on the inside were ever tested since GG was so quick to abandon them. I suspect not and that it was a "shotgun" approach to solving the problem. Honestly they can't hurt, but my older bikes with the alloy covers were just as good. I think its the basket/pressure plate more than anything. Actually they were always good until '11.

Flat is flat, so if its done right it should be good I would think. Problem is its tough plastic and a little slow to do. If you don't care about easy R&R of the cover a little Yamabond, Threebond, etc. should work good.

Flat is flat for sure - It took an hour, but I had the entire width of the sealing surface flattened on a granite faceplate with medium and then super fine paper. It still wept between the screws. Had I wanted to put some liquid gasket on it the weaping may have subsided.

I reused the original gasket cleaned with contact cleaner and it was fine.
