Bike year & model = 2000 xc200 Temperature (degF) = 70 Elevation (feet) = 1000-2000 Main jet = 172 Pilot jet = 48 Needle & notch = DDK (2) Air screw setting = 1.75 turns bike rips. richer pilot helped bottom end. harder to keep idling, but runs much stronger with instant power delivery. Latest Jetting
Bike year & model = 2001 XC300
Temperature (degF) = 65°F Elevation (feet) = 20 Main jet = 178 Pilot jet = 45 Needle & notch = JD Red in #4 (from JDK014 kit) Air screw setting = 1.75 Throttle valve/slide = 7 Results:This needle is a candidate for 1/2 clip settings! #3 is a little too lean with no hit resulting in soft power, bottom very clean, #4 still clean but lets the engine torque off idle and into the mid much better. With a 175 the plug will be tan and read as ideal based on color, but I prefer a step richer, hence the 178, for safety, with the 178 the plug is medium brown and dry, no spooge. Premix 43:1 either BelRay H1R or one of the Amsoil near twins(Dominator or Interceptor) & Shell 93 pump. Anyway, this setup is the best so far after 8 years of ownership. Smooth and progressive power, can even bump up the idle screw and it will idle if needed.

I could use some jetting assistance on my 2010 XC 300.
Bike came with: 175 main N1EF needle clip in top position 40 pilot air screw 2 turns out Current conditions are: 85F 1 Million % humidity 1000ft MSL The bike seemed to be running good down low and through the midrange, but was having trouble transitioning onto the main. I dropped down to a 172 main. This was a noticeable improvement, but still some hesitation and then it would explode onto the main. It feels like the needle might still be rich and then the main is pretty crisp. I'm reluctant to go to a 170 main, because it looks like no one has had to go that lean on a 300. I was doing most of the testing in the soft map setting, because this is where I'm going to spend most of my time. In the aggressive setting the transition seemed better, but still some hesitation. I also received a CHN needle with the extra jets. This needle looks fatter, therefore leaner. Is this what I should be using? Anybody have any experience, or recommend a different needle? Thanks Last edited by 2whlrcr; 08-21-2010 at 07:47 PM. |

Thanks for posting. It seems like 300s of any color are difficult to get to run clean top to bottom, and you just saved a bunch of work for a whole lot of riders.
