2006 (????) EC 250 Light-switch
I have a 2006 EC 250 (Which i believe somone has fitted later plastics, sub-frame, side-stand, switch-gear and other parts to at some time).
The light-switch is a rotary-type affair and the kill-switch isnt working. I led to believe this might too be from a later model. Can anyone shed any light (Get my humour !!) on what year this switch might be from ? Cheers Guys-N-Gals.

I have the same switch on my '12 xc200.I would take the unit a part and have a look at the spring and wiring. Also that switch is expensive to replace.

I've decided to just by a stand-alone kill switch.
Cheaper and a lot more prominent with a big red button 'in your face' when needed quickly. Where is the best / normal place to wire these into ?

Surely there is pre existing wiring for the kill switch? Check your wiring diagran. If not the standard is stator ignitor coil to earth.

Bu default (from the factory) both my gassers have come out of the crate without the killl switch on the light switch connected. The main wiring that runs back had the wire snipped at the connector.
On my latest I ran a new wire and got the button working easily enough. Its the green blue wire that needs to be earthed to 'kill the engine' via the CDI. I always run a second stand alone kill switch between the clutch and light switch block. |

Why in hell would you pay that much for a handlebar switch? Just buy a second hand 1 off any bike on eBay and rewire it! Should only cost a quid or 2!

Be very gentle with the stock multi-function switch. The rotary knob for the lights has a very thin sleeve that turns the switching element. This sleeve breaks easily. The push buttons are good. I would wire in some other brand of switch block before spending significant money for the stock one.
