Pretty much it has to be the shifter return spring, detent spring, or the kick start return spring. If it isn't one of those then I would say a foreign object somehow got in there. Regardless of what it is, time to get the dealer to make it right.

If it was one of those springs, there would be an obvious functional problem with the bike and that does not sound like the situation.

Could it be the power valve linkage retaining clip? The one that holds the socket on the actuator arm to the valve pin?

Yep. I agree. It could.

I think you might be onto it. ME72326GG-CEQ-1 the security clip looks like a likely candidate. The importer has been forwarded my photos so we'll see what they come up with.

I think the diameter of that wire is very small. Maybe 1mm +/-

Can confirm that it was a powervalve linkage pin. However, it was not the one that was installed onto my powervalve.... It's still in place.

Further to this the one that was in place wasn't installed correctly!!! If you've got the exhaust off I'd recommend popping the cover off and checking that the top of the clip is pushed back up into the hole in the socket.

Is there one at the other end of the power valve arm as well? Behind the inner clutch cover?

Just bolted at the bottom and ball and socket at the top with this clip to secure the socket.
