2011 flasher
I want to install a LED flasher to work with the LED turn signals.
Can anyone tell me where to find the stock flasher at? |

on my KTM I got one from cycle gear,, hate that place but it was in stock..

Let me redirect my question.
I have a LED flasher and want to replace the stock flasher with the LED but nothing I see on the bike looks like a flasher. I need help in someone giving me direction where the stock flasher is located on the bike. The turnsignals work with what ever flasher is on the bike, just figured I would upgrade with a LED flasher. |

You have a very good question. I couldn't figure it out either.
The 2011 manual shows a separate flasher at connector 16. This should be hanging in the wiring somewhere. The 2011 estart manual has a pulse symbol at the switch location. That leads me to believe the flasher is built into the switch housing. While this seems unlikely, there is a black transistor gizmo I can't indentify in the housing. The small yellow unit is the LED source that illuminates the arrows. I have not yet inspected all the wiring to look for a flasher. Since the US bikes are stripped of some electrical components from the factory, it is likely there is no flasher on them.

How did you get a 2011 equipped with working signals? Is this a Euro spec bike?

The turnsignals will flash so a flasher must exist somewhere.
I am starting to think it is built into the control cluster. I installed LED turnsignals and just wanted to make sure the flasher unit was compatable. Starting to think I should just use it as is until it fails then deal with figuring out where to wire in the LED flasher. Thanks for your help, I think you just help confirm it must be part of the control cluster. |

Your new LED signals work OK with the existing system?
With the external flasher setup, you could just add a resistor to create more load for the flasher (or replace the flasher as you had intended). This might not be a good idea on the new "built-in" flasher since we don't know what load it can handle.

Well that was short lived.
Could not figure why I could not get the high beam to work, come to find the switch was broken from new. Just spins in a ring with no detent, with closer look it just fell apart. Someone must have given it a bit too much of a spin while sitting on the show room floor. What a piece of crap. So, off with the piece a junk and time to use aftermarket to get the job done. OBTW, the signals never blinked enough to have passed vehicle inspection. |

The headlight switch is pitiful. It's a bad design that's just too weak. All the ideas are correct, but the sleeve that goes down into the housing is just too thin and cracks. You are not the only one with a bad switch. Probably a whole batch of them bad from the factory.
Hand signals are legal here so the lack of turn signals is not a big problem.
