Default 2003 EC 200 Ohlin rear spring

I weigh 210lbs probably close to 230lbs with gear. What spring should I have on my rear shock. I know the one on it is way too soft and already had way too much pre-load in it when I bought the bike a few weeks ago. The Ohlins on the front work like a dream maybe a hair on the soft side but that's what I like. I just need the rear to match the front.

I'd start with a 5.6. Then the fork WILL feel too soft, as it will be, and you would probably want .46s to match the rear.

I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes but I'm 6'6" tall and because of my height I think I tend to have my weight more towards the rear of the bike. I have to really make an effort to get my weight up front. I'm going to look tomorrow and see what spring is on there now, I'm assuming there is some kind of marking on the spring itself.

The spring will have a permanent ink stamp on one of the coils, look for a # like 4.8,5.2,5.4 etc..there will be a double row of numbers and can normally be seen while still on the bike.

At 6'6" you have to do something, you will likely benefit from tall bars.

I do not like tall bars, but what made a big difference for me in the ability to stand more and keep my weight forward was Pivot Pegs. The small geometry change in the angle of my feet make it a lot more natural to get my head over the bars. Just seems to work for me.

Once your ergo setup is correct the 5.6/.46 should be in the ballpark and in balance.

Here is the ink stamp that I found.

Ohlins 596-10/52 L192

I couldn't see any more ink and this was right behind the air boot so it wasn't easy to see this.

That's what I figured. That means that a 5.6 would be two steps stiffer right? If so that should be about perfect.

Thanks for the quick help

5.6 would be about right. what's in the front? should switch to 4.6 or so. it'll get real soft when you increase the rear.
