Not much in it really. Less stuff to break on the XC(no speedo, headlight, tail light, less wiring). Better pipe on XC for racing. EC if ya need road rego & lights.

Same here
The EC is plush and actually a little soft but the XC was owned by a guy that weighed 40 pounds more than me and was a class B rider. If I keep the XC I will have to install the stock suspension on it for my 180 pounds. I really like the XC's punch but the gadgetry on the EC appeals to my nature.

I'd keep the EC, it has all the stuff necessary to register it which is essential where I live (Europe) and I can use the lights if needed. Currently I ride it with disconnected light and start button form a XC.
If I ride out in the wilderness and it gets dark, I just plug in my headlight and can find my way home. |

Take all the bits you like off the Xc and make your own bike.

I'm 73, and still pretty active. Yearly physical and require no meds. Been riding since the early 1970's. So I know where you're headed in your riding abilities, I think.
I'd keep the EC. That heavier FW and more mellow power delivery will come in handy as you age. My current off roader is a '01 GG XC 200 (W/ a 12 oz FWW) and a '17 FE 250 Husky 4st dual sport . I rode open class bikes since forever, but around 70, decided smaller and more mellow is better. It was a good decision for me. RB |
