2002 250ec jetting

I picked up a 250ec here's the carb settings how i got it
6 slide
n8rj needle 2# spot from top
main jet 178
Pilot jet 40
It seemed to be decently rich and would bog periodically
I typically ride in 50-85 degrees at sea level to 3000ft

I changed the main to a 180 and the pilot to a 38 pilot slide and needle the same (that was suggested at the Ktm shop)and seem to be better but not quite there any suggestions I'm new to tuning 2 stroke carburetors last 2 stroke I had was years ago

35 PJ
N1EC needle middle position
#7 slide

Thanks for your setup info. I can't seem to find the n1ec needle anywhere. is that needle similar to any of the Japanese bikes needles that are easier to find?
