Default Heat to reshape plastic?

Has anyone ever heated a fuel tank and reshaped it? Of course this could only be done after purging with hot water to render safe. It works fine on fenders and such, but I wonder what the material of the Gas Gas gas tank is? It's black and natural, a strange combo, to be sure.

Not done it on a gas gas, but on a KTM 500 I used to have in a MX sidecar. About 5psi and a hot air gun / paint stripping gun is all you need. Clean tank out first tho.

Although on the gas gas the tank sits quite snug in the frame so not sure you'll get much this way, I'd limit any heat to the black part of the tank only to ensure the tank still fits in the frame.

On my last bike the oversize tank restricted fork lock. I heated the tank front with a heat gun, then put a 3/8" thick piece of rubber around the fork tube. Pulled on the handlebars to form an indent in the tank. Worked great.
