Coolant leaking through cylinder head socket-head bolts.
Curious to know what to do. I just put the bike together and have ran it about 3 times for a few minutes each. I've had leaks at the coolant lines and have replaced a few hose clamps. The hoses are brand new. Then I noticed coolant collecting around one of these bolt heads.
The bike has never had copper washers installed since I've bought it. Would it be as simple as that to fix? As far as I can recall, the studs thread between the two o-ring head gaskets into the cylinder, so it would make sense for coolant to be able to travel up these bolts and out by the heads. The gasket in the T shaped coolant return at the top of the cylinder is holding fine. Last edited by GGRider01; 10-17-2015 at 02:12 PM. |

Yes,an easy fix.The copper washers are sealing washers.

I feel silly. It was the hose leaking very slowly. More hose clamps!
I really like these Norma 21 hose clamps for their ease of use but they don't always get tight, especially with replacement hardware store hoses. |

I once had a frog that would urinate on the head. Took a while to find the source of that leak!

I hope you didn't do the "taste test" to verify if it was coolant!
