Default Howdy- first time GG'r here

Hi guys,
I've been poking around the site for the last couple weeks. I picked up my '10 EC300 yesterday. It looks pretty clean, nice previous owner, etc. I got a great deal but had to drive 800+ to pick it up in OK City. Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi and to thank everyone for their hard work they've put into this community. I'll be honest, if it wasn't for this forum, I wouldn't have taken the "exotic" plunge. I've ridden for 35 years, jap bikes only was my motto- even when most of my friends switched over to KTM (can you say that here?). Right now, it seems that the economical spare parts houses (Dennis Kirk and Rockymountain have been my long time stand-bys) have yet to jump on the GG band wagon. This is where the remainder of what stress I had remains. I don't have a problem doing homework, and would be happy to help out with a more definitive cross reference chart if I could.
So, a couple questions bouncing around my head, hoping you guys can help out. I have done some searching, but as all forums go, there's a great deal of opinions.
1. I've searched for some levers, crossing over the front brake lever, Moose says the CRF450x (05-09) will fit. I ordered a spare from Rockymountain today. I'll report the findings.
2. I would guess the clutch lever would be similar to a ktm eh? Anybody ever try it? Just wondering.
3. Wheels, during the search I completed, it looks like an older KX250 rear will work, anybody have luck with that? How about the front? I will keep an eye out here for someone parting out a GG, will all years fit the 2010?
Also, if there are any GG'ers in the Northern Il area (I'm between Rockford and Chicago), drop me a line and let's meet up for a beer.

Thanks as always,
Tim

Hi Tim and welcome to the GG comunity.
I hope you will enjoy your ride and let us know your experiences.
Regarding your question:
1. the front brake is Nissin and almost all jap. bike levers should fit.
2. the clutch lever is different to KTM
I use S3 Levers and I like them very much
3. Husqvarna wheels will fit with small modifications

Welcome aboard Tim. Do you ever race any of Gusse's races, like the Moose Run or his spring races around Prophetstown? I'm in Eastern IA and race mostly Iowa D22 races, but some are co-sanctioned with Gusse's events.

My 2002 300XC is still running strong after all these years and one frame up rebuild. Enjoy the 2010.

Default Welcome, Welcome

Tim: You made the plunge at just the right time - GasGas stock is heading higher by the model year

The 2010s were really solid bikes, and with a few focused mods can be made into near-clones of the 2011s. Don't be afraid of your Sachs suspension - I was wishing for mine back Sunday when we ran into a nasty rock trail - it can be tuned to your liking with only minor inconvenience.

GoFasters put together a decent hard parts book online earlier in the year, and the aftermarket continues to grow with leaps and bounds. "Mainstream" off-road brands have stepped up to the plate with product offerings tailored to the brand, and guys in this forum are more than happy to help you ferret out what you're looking for.

Drink deep - you'll love it!

Hey Tim congrats on your bike and welcome to the site. A good and updated cross over chart for the GG bikes is a great idea.. I know the Yamaha foot pegs fit as we have a set on our 2010 GG. Oh whatch the pumpking talk ......... jk! You will find it's a great bunch of guys on this site that know their GG bikes but don't get all up tight when you mention the other brands. Again welcome and let us know how the leavers fit.

Thanks guys,
I tossed the heavier springs in the forks and on the shock last night, took it for a quick test ride, low and mid is solid, falls on it's face on the upper mid and high r's. Jetting is 45 pilot and 180 main. I thought I would need some bigger jets for the 40 deg weather here, looking on the jetting page, maybe I should go down a size on the main eh?

Thanks again, take care,
Tim

That CRF lever you mentioned is slightly different at the bend of the lever than the correct one.

The exact one is:

CR125/250 95-03
RM125/250 96-03
KX125/250 93-96
