Kawasaki-Husaberg
A couple of months ago, there was a thread about Husaberg and their new engine layout.
Looks like Kawasaki is thinking the same thing: http://www.motorcycledaily.com/28aug...entdesigns.htm It's funny, however, that people think what they are doing is raising the crankshaft to DECREASE roll inertia. That is exactly the opposite effect that raising the crank has. What this design approach does is reduce the YAW inertia, allowing the motorcycle to rotate in yaw better AROUND a corner (rather than rotate in roll INTO a corner). It's interesting to watch this engineering development. With the 2T engine, you need not worry about this stuff as there is no mass up high. I like the 2T more and more every day. blitz |
